Samsung’s first Bada cell phone, Samsung Wave 723, appeared at IFA. The phone runs Bada 1.1 platform, and has a candybar design. It also comes with a TFT LCD touchscreen, a 5.0MP camera with autofoucs, bluetooth, MP3 player, 3.5mm head jack, wLAN, microSD support etc.

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd officially announced that Samsung launch new open mobile platform: Bada. We have familiar with Windows Mobile, Android, Symbian, WebOS… Hope bada bring us more surprise.

The name ‘bada’, which means ‘ocean’ in Korean, was chosen to convey the limitless variety of potential applications which can be created using the new platform. It also alludes to Samsung’s commitment to a variety of open platforms in the mobile industry. Samsung bada also represents the fresh challenges and opportunities available to developers, as well as the entertainment which consumers will enjoy once the new platform is open. –via Bada
